What This Document Is
This is a writing portfolio submitted by a student, for Adelphi University’s Art & Craft of Writing (ENG 107) course, to Professor Wittmaier. It showcases three writing assignments completed during the semester – a movie/TV show review, an op-ed essay, and a personal memoir – alongside a reflective statement on the student’s growth as a writer.
Why This Document Matters
This portfolio is a final submission intended to demonstrate the student’s progress in writing skills and critical thinking throughout the course. It’s valuable for the professor as a summative assessment of the student’s learning. It also serves as a record of the student’s work and development.
Common Limitations or Challenges
This document is a student’s self-assessment and completed coursework. It does not offer instruction on writing techniques or serve as a model for assignments. It represents one student’s experience and perspective.
What This Document Provides
The portfolio includes the completed essays: a review of the television show *Friends*, an opinion piece on abortion, and a memoir about a life-saving experience. It also contains a reflective essay detailing the student’s perceived strengths and weaknesses as a writer, and how the assignments impacted their writing process and future career aspirations. This preview does *not* include the full text of the essays themselves, only a summary of their content and the student’s overall reflection.
